Primus Articulus & E.L.O

I think I speak for many when I say that it has been a strange few days for us as beginner T.Y students. Not profoundly positive or negative yet, but it is different to what we are used to as a recovering exam year, for sure.
Today I came into school without a text book in my bag which any ex-exam year student knows feels REALLY strange at first! I uphold that this will be a weekly blog non the grounds that the two days last week do not qualify as being a week.

In English today we found out that the late Seamus Heaney sent his last message to his wife in a text in Latin saying "Noli timere"/"Don't be afraid" (hence the Latin name of this article) I thought this was a pretty nice final gesture on his behalf and after watching his documentary I think I'm more able to appreciate how interesting a person he was.

On Wednesday we started our first day of workshops, and none of us really knew what to expect from it. We began by talking about personality and the importance of effective communication skills especially in the work place. We also had to pretend to be ninjas for a while during it... the purpose of which may have alluded me, but it was nonetheless hilarious!

Then we moved onto the massage workshop which was well worthwhile. If anything we were slightly too relaxed and mellow after it to then produce energy for our final workshop. We were first informed about auras and chakras which I was profoundly skeptical about. However Melissa and I surprised ourselves when we agreed that -as our hands hovered near one another's- our energy definitely was being sent to one another... even if only through radiation of heat!

Then it was onto Positive Parties where we were taught to have a good time, and not to take things too seriously. Denise was adamant that listening to happy music when upset was the most effective cure and
(as much as I enjoy my fair share of  the darker songs) I agreed to a large extent, when I realised that mine is....

Don't you feel better after that song?! I know I do! Something about it eh?
Until Next Time,
-Sophie
